Top 10 best rooftop venues
On top of the old diamond exchange of Amsterdam, you now find the High Light of Capital C. This exclusive event space consists of a giant glass dome, which provides you and your guests with an impressive view over Amsterdam. Located on top of the home of the Amsterdam’s creative industry, it is bound to light up any event, or at least take it to the highest level available. Special mention to their awesome terraces which are not abundant everywhere.
Hoogtij is a unique venue in the urban Amsterdam North, on the other side of the river, overlooking the IJ and Amsterdam. This greenhouse on the roof of a building has a great outdoor space and guests are surrounded with windows so they can enjoy a 180-degree view over Amsterdam. The food is prepared exclusively by the caterer “De Artiesten” and inspired on Dennis Huwae, chef of fine dining restaurant Daalder.
The Heineken Experience is one of Amsterdam’s main tourist attractions. This former brewery (operational until 1988) tells the story of Heineken from the bottling to their fab marketing campaigns. However, not all the floors in this 6 story brewery are dedicated to the tourist experience. Floors 5 and 6 have some nice and themed meeting and event spaces. The greatest space (in our modest opinion) is the Koelschip, which in former days the was used to cool the hot wort before adding the yeast – simply by opening the many windows. Nowadays, this is the room with the best ‘dam view. The perfect backdrop for a party, a dinner and, of course, a selfie or two.
The Skylounge Amsterdam, located on the roof of the Doubletree by Hilton Amsterdam Central Station, has one the public’s favorite award for four consecutive years at the best hotel bar awards. It’s a favorite spot for Amsterdammers and visitors alike to enjoy the views whilst sipping on a delicious cocktail. The Skylougne is divided in a North and South section of which the south section (with the best view) can be rented for events. Of course a buy out can be discussed, but the prices are hefty as it’s such a popular hang out. The only downside is that the entrance is through the hotel lobby, so when not staying there this could raise an eyebrow or two with your group. Nonetheless, unmissable on this list!
The A’DAM tower is an almost 100 meters high tower located in Amsterdam north. Built in 1965 to house Dutch/English multinational Shell, who used the tower until 2009. Renovated in 2014 with the lead of 3 entrepreneurs from the (digital) music industry. The name A’dam (outside of the abbreviation for Amsterdam) stands for Amsterdam Dance and Music tower. The building now houses office space for music related companies (ID&T, Sony Music f.e.) a nightclub, restaurants and bars and one pretty spectacular private event space ‘The Loft’. The loft spans a total of 600 square meters on two floors, connected by a handcrafted spiral staircase. Catering is managed by A’dam events in house. Great for ‘gala’ dinners with post dinner parties. Sit down up to around 150 and stand up receptions up to around 400. Truly an eye catcher for your event!
W Lounge is the perfect Amsterdam cocktail bar for everyone who is curious about everything that is ‘new and next’ in the world of mixology. Take the elevator to the 6th floor of the Exchange building and choose from a wide variety of cocktails. Partial (and full) privatization is possible. Elevator alert, there are two that aren’t super big (say 6-8 adults), so either patience or scattered arrival is advised!
85 meters up in the sky, on the roof of Leonardo Hotel Amsterdam Rembrandtpark, you will find the spectacular Floor17 Rooftop Terrace. In both summer and winter, Floor17 takes you to higher places, with a phenomenal view over Amsterdam.
“Who can resist the smell of fresh popcorn. Performance Travel takes your event to the highest level. Amaze your colleagues with this unique rooftop location for drinks, meeting or an exclusive movie night”
Restaurant Bureau is part of the successful B. Amsterdam, the – literal – highlight of the building: the restaurant on the roof terrace. Restaurant B opened in a large, creative warehouse with a view over the roofs of the city. The chef takes the majority of the ingredients out of the vegetable garden, which is located just next to his stove; also on the roof. They call it a roof park with a more than great roof terrace. On the 5th floor of B.
Tailored to kids, this museum is a very popular destination for Dutch schools and parents with their youngsters on a day off. However, the museum also houses some pretty great venue possibilities. The rooftop restaurant and terrace are great options for an event. Exclusive after 17.30 (museum closes), with choice of catering and many tailored experiences around the museum visit. Great place.
REM eiland used to be the broadcasting station of TV Noordzee. The restaurant is located on the former helipad and has a fantastic view over the city and harbour of Amsterdam. “The beach is boring”. On top of the Island is an amazing rooftop bar.
